Clutch Problems??? Broken Plates??? We can fix 'em, and help you prevent problems in the future, too. Through our years of experience we have found heat to be the number one source of clutch problems. When you encounter a broken clutch fiber the chances are it was heat stress that caused the fiber to fail. The biggest mistake people make is to replace only the broken plate. All of the fibers have been put under the same heat stress as the one that broke and it is only a matter of time before they break too. We suggest changing ALL fibers. We also suggest inspecting the inner hub and pressure plate and replacing these if needed.
Our solution to keep the clutch cool? Send us your inner hub and clutch basket. For $50 we will machine slots in the clutch basket fingers (ala Hinson) and drill holes through the inner hub to increase oil flow to the clutch components (see photo left). This is done on our computer indexer in the Bridgeport. The factories don't do this because they cannot be cast in this form and it is not cost effective to machine them after. After five months of testing our 250 clutches with these modifications our steels look like they just came out of the package!
