Tech Tips

Tech Tip #7

For Four Stroke riders including pit bikers, we strongly suggest constantly adding fuel conditioner and stabilizer to the $3.30/gallon gasoline that America's oil industries are giving us. This gas goes bad so fast it is almost a given it will clog your pilot jet. The smaller the hole, the easier it is to clog. We use Spectro FC Premium which is a great product to help ward off this problem.

Crank Balancing

Engine vibration costs you power and money...Make it right with expert crank balancing, and save on both.

STR's custom built balancerSTR's custom built balancerSuzuki RM & CR 500 owners take note!

You want the most out of your motor don't you?  The crank is the heart of your motor. The factory bikes all have balanced cranks so why not you.  Once you ride a bike with a balanced crank you will realize why it is important. 1/4 oz of imbalance @8000 RPM's causes 114 lbs of force on your main bearings at every revolution.  This force, known as imbalance can be controlled.  We have found that most stock OEM cranks have about 1/2 oz of imbalance, some up to 50 grams.  If you have either an overbore or a stroker it is even more significant.

Crank balancing is the removal or adding of material without the connecting rod in place.
This is not to be confused with truing.

For the shops doing their own cranks, you can ship us the crank assembled with the rod & bearing. We will balance it to the parts you sent us (top end, rod, bearings).

For the consumer you send us your crank as is with the top end you will be running and your choice for rod kit. We also can supply both.
